➡️I was raised in great home — I had a mom and dad who loved the Lord, loved each other, and loved me and my siblings. We were active at our local church, constantly surrounded with friends and family. Yet even in that stable, safe environment, I always fought the thoughts that I wasn’t enough. I wasn’t a good athlete, I was always the skinniest one in the crowd, I never felt smart — I just wasn’t enough. One thing I discovered I was good at was life on the stage. I always seemed pretty confident when I performed. Therefore, my whole life became a performance. I was constantly, all of the time, acting as if everything was just great.

To be honest, I believe most people live life the same way — always acting as if everything is OK.
These thoughts of never being enough followed me for the first thirty years of my life. HOWEVER, when I was 30 years old, I had a mentor and spiritual father who started teaching me the importance of finding my identity in Christ — getting in the Word and finding out what God says about me. This was truly a game-changer.
If we want to find out who we are, we’ve got to go to the One who created us. We cannot look to culture to define truth…because culture is constantly shifting. Building our life on “truth” that is always changing NEVER works — what’s cool today is canceled tomorrow.
Matthew 7:24-27 tells us a story about two men who built two houses. Both homes were beautiful, and both homes were well-built. However, one house was built on a firm, solid rock foundation, and the other house was built on sand. Life was great until storms came, and of course the house built on sand was done. It quickly fell apart.
In the same way, we have to know what the Bible says about life, and we have to build upon that truth — storms will come, it’s guaranteed — and only those whose lives are built on the truth of God’s Word will stand.
God’s Word, the Holy Bible, is always right. Any opinion, belief or statement that goes against God’s word is always wrong. Romans 3:4 says to let God be true, and every man a liar.
So what does the Bible say about me – and every follower of Christ – here’s a few:
- God forgives all my sins…Psalm 103
- God heals all my diseases
- God redeems my life from the pit
- God crowns me with love and compassion
- God satisfies my desires with good things, so that my youth is renewed like the eagles
- I will always have hope…Psalm 71:14
- With God, I will gain the victory…Psalm 60:12
- I am filled with the power of the Holy Spirit…Acts 1:8
- I am blessed, and I will never be cursed…Deuteronomy 28
- My home is blessed
- My family is blessed
- My business is blessed
- Everything I touch is blessed
- Everywhere I go is blessed
- I am blessed when I come in, and blessed when I go out
- I am the head and not the tail
- I am at the top, and never at the bottom
- People will see that I am called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear me
- God will grant me abundant prosperity…2 Corinthians 9:11
- God will keep me in perfect peace as my mind is stayed upon him…Isaiah 26:3
- I know that God exists and he rewards those who earnestly seek him…Hebrews 11:6
- The Lord God is my sun and my shield…Psalm 84:11
- God bestows favor and honor upon me
- Goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life…Psalm 23:6
And that’s just a few – the Bible goes on and on and on – packed with truths!
I make a decision every day, to build my live, my home, my family…on a solid firm foundation, that will never change. Storms will come, and when they do, we may have to repair a couple of shingles, maybe clean up a little debris, but we will be doing it while living in a well built, beautiful, firm foundation house that will always stand every storm of life.
It’s in the Word of God and the Bible is always right!
