➡️Studies show that about 70% of Americans believe in heaven. When most people think about heaven, they probably think of clouds, angels, peace and harps.   When I was a child I would always imagine heaven being something like the Wizard of Oz – there’s singing and dancing, bright colors, lots of happy people, and a beautiful city way off in the distance.  The city at the end of the road was heaven, and in order to get there, I had to walk out this journey, and I had to fight the green enemy and all the little demons, which were the monkeys.

But what is heaven really like, according to the Bible?

1…HEAVEN IS A PREPARED PLACE

JOHN 14 and REVELATION 21 says that Heaven is a real place that Jesus is preparing right now for us. It has homes, yards, gates, buildings, beauty, and perfection – it has everything we could possibly want or desire.  Think of the most beautiful place that you’ve ever visited, and heaven is much, much, much better than that.  Jesus left the Earth over 2000 years ago, and he’s been preparing heaven for us ever since.

According to I Corinthians 2:9, our minds can’t even begin to comprehend how amazing Heaven will be.

2…HEAVEN IS AN ACTUAL PLACE.

It’s a place you can touch, a place you can feel and experience – it’s real. In Revelation 21, the angel gives a measurement of Heaven, an actual place — it’s a 1,400 square mile cube…and it has walls that are 200 feet thick.

That’s huge!  For example, an estimated 40 billion people have lived on earth – if everyone went to Heaven, and we know they won’t, each person would still have over 35 acres of their own land.  My family of 5 would own over 175 acres.

Heaven has homes, trees, rivers, animals, laughter, people, children, food, tables, chairs, musical instruments, singing, clapping, dancing, praise and worship — Heaven is a real place.

3…HEAVEN IS A PERFECT PLACE

Revelation 21:4, says that “God will wipe away every tear from our eyes – there will be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; there will be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”

In Heaven, there’s no more separation.

No hard feelings

No misunderstandings

No death

No gossip

No Pain

No Hospitals

No Funerals

No Broken homes

No Broken dreams

No broken hearts

No Bad reports

No Failures

No Sickness

No Poverty

No Crying

No Hurt feelings

No Bad memories

Heaven is a perfect place.

4…HEAVEN IS A PLACE WHERE WE WILL KNOW PEOPLE AND PEOPLE WILL KNOW US.

Philippians 3:21 says that “we will receive new glorified bodies in Heaven.” However, our new bodies will look exactly the same; but they will be different from our bodies here on earth. In John 20, after Jesus received his glorified body, he walked through walls; he could even travel with his mind.  Just like Jesus, we will appear natural, but we will be supernatural.  We will look the same, and people will recognize us, and we will recognize them. After Jesus rose from the dead and had his new body, all of his friends and family knew him.

In John 20:27, for example, Jesus told Thomas to touch his hands and feel his side. Jesus also sat down with his disciples and ate real food.  Jesus had his new, glorified body, but no one knew it.  He looked the same, acted the same, spoke the same, and reacted the same.  Jesus was still Jesus — and we will still be us.

5…HEAVEN IS A PLACE FOR THOSE WHO LOVE JESUS.

Everyone does not go to Heaven. Back to John 14, Jesus was teaching about heaven and he tells his disciples that they know the way to heaven. Thomas speaks up and says, “Lord, we don’t know where you are going so how can we know the way?”  Jesus answered, in verse 6, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”  You only go to Heaven if you put your faith and trust in Jesus – and the price he paid for you on the cross.

In John 3:16, I’m sure the most famous Bible verse of all time, Jesus reminds us that “God loves us so much, that he sent his one and only son. If we believe in him, we will not perish, but instead, we will have eternal life…forever, in heaven.”

Heaven is

A prepared place

An actual place

A perfect place

A place where we will know others and they will know us

And Heaven is a place for those who know and love Jesus.

That’s in the Bible, and the Bible is always right!
