➡️I know, I know…no one knows the day or the hour that Jesus is coming back for his church; but I’m pretty convinced it could be next fall.  I remember as a child seeing the 1970’s movie “A Thief in the Night” and hearing the creepy song, “I Wish We’d All Been Ready” – it was so scary.  Every time I couldn’t find my mom or dad, I just knew Jesus came back, like a thief in the night, and I missed it…because no one will know the day or the hour, which is actually found in Matthew 24:36. But can we know the month, or maybe the year?  Of course we can. 

In Matthew 24,  it says that the generation that see’s “these things” is the generation that will see the end.  A generation, according to Psalm 90, is 70-80 years.  In Matthew 24, Jesus talks about wars; famines; earthquakes; persecution of believers; false prophets; an increase of evil – and things like that.  However, every generation could say that that was their generation; but there’s one thing that has to take place before Jesus returns, which actually happened  in 1948 – Israel has to be a nation.  It’s been 76 years since 1948 – so things are definitely wrapping up.  But what about next fall?

In Leviticus 23, there are 7 JEWISH HOLIDAYS that God instructs the Jews to celebrate – every holiday was a prophetic sign representing something that would happen in the future…like a dress rehearsal.  I own a music school – we’ve had hundreds of rehearsals – and the ONLY reason we have rehearsals is to get ready for the future event.  Same for the Jews – God gave them holidays to celebrate, which was a foreshadow of something to come.  Here’s the Seven Holidays:  Passover, Unleavened Bread, Firstfruits, Feast of Weeks, Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement and the Feast of Tabernacles.  But what major events do they represent?  

1…Jesus was crucified on PASSOVER.

2…Jesus was buried on the feast of UNLEAVENED BREAD.

3…Jesus rose from the dead on the feast of FIRSTFRUITS.

4…Fifty days later, the Holy Spirit was given on the FEAST OF WEEKS

5…The next big event on the Christian calendar is when Jesus returns for his church – that’s us who believe.  The fifth holiday that God instucted his people to celebrate is called the FEAST OF TRUMPETS.

According to the “Mishnah” – a collection of Jewish oral traditions and laws, written around 200 AD – other names for the FEAST OF TRUMPETS are…

…Rosh Hashanah

…Day of the awakening blast

…Day of Judgement

…Day of remembrance

…Day Heavens doors are open to the righteous 

…Day which no one knows.  It’s given that name because the FEASTS OF TRUMPETS is the holiday that changes every year – no one knows the day or the hour.  In 2024, it was October 2-4; in 2025, it’s September 22-24.  If these holidays that God gave his people are dress rehearsals of coming events, the FEAST OF TRUMPETS has to be when Jesus returns…it makes perfect sense.  

Back to that scary 1970’s movie, I Thessalonians 5 says that “the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night.  While people are saying ‘peace and safety’, destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.  But you, brothers”, listen to this, “are not in darkness.  It will not surprise you like a thief.”  We don’t have to be scared every time we can’t find mom or dad.  Look at the Bible, study the signs, read the prophets.  Jesus is coming back – and it will not be a surprise to his followers.  It may or may not be next fall…it may be tomorrow; it may today; it may as you’re reading this.  But it will happen – it’s in the Bible, and the Bible is always right.
