➡️I have 5 fun tips about how you can better manage your time – according to the Bible.  But even if you don’t believe the Bible, follow the science.  Ask your smart phone about the benefits of  managing your time, and it will bring up article after article about how it makes you healthier, it reduces stress, improves productivity, makes time for better health and well being…it really does change your life.  We’ve got to realize we’re only human and we can’t to it all – or maybe we can do it all, but not today — so we have to decide what’s important, and what may not be that important.  Managing your time may include things like keeping a daily planner, setting reminders on your smart phone, establishing a routine, writing out a to-do list.  For me personally, I get up at the same time every morning, I eat the same thing, I do the same thing…I am extremely scheduled – according to me wife, I am extremely boring, but that’s what works for me.

I love the science – but more than that, I love the Bible – because the Bible is always true.  If the Bible says it, I’ve decided to believe it.  So what does the Bible say about TIME MANAGEMENT?  Here’s five things:

1…SEEK GOD FIRST.  Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, then everything else will fall into place”.  I HAVE to spend time with God before I start my day – I pray, I get into His Word, I worship.  Psalm 34:3 says to “magnify the Lord”.  We magnify God through our time with Him, we make him bigger – as God gets bigger, our daily schedules, issues and concerns get very small.  Remember, 1 minute with God is more valuable than a lifetime without him.

2…CLEARLY DEFINE WHAT’S IMPORTANT.  Colossians 3:2 says to “set your minds on things above”.  Ask God this question, “What’s important to you”?  If Jesus was living this day, what would he define as important – spending time with his Father, loving his family, serving people, taking care of his body – That’s called setting your minds on things above.  Here’s a quick challenge, before this day ends, write down FIVE THINGS that would be on your EVERYDAY LIST – things you need to do every day.  What’s mine?  I pray, exercise, communicate, write, and read.

3…KEEP A SCHEDULE – Ephesians 5:15-17 says, “Be very careful how you live, not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity.”…every minute, every hour, every day.  Like I said earlier, create a daily planner, set reminders on your smart phone, establish a routine, write out a to-do list.  Find out what works for you.  We don’t want to stand before God one day and realize we waisted out time on cat videos.

4…BE OPEN TO DIVINE INTERRUPTIONS.  We do need a schedule, it’s so important – but we’ve also got to be open to God changing our plans.  James chapter 4 says we make our plans, but we also have to say, “if it’s the Lords will, we will do this or that.”  In Mark 5, Jesus was on his way to the home of a man named Jairus to heal his dying daughter (very important!), but he was stopped by a woman who had been sick for 12 years – Jesus had a plan, but everything stopped when he saw a need.  John Maxwell says you should always walk through rooms slowly.  Try it today, you never know, God may have a divine interruption to your schedule.

5…GOD IS IN CHARGE OF IT ALL.  Proverbs 16:9 says, “We can make our plans, but the Lord is the one who determines our steps”.

That’s in the Bible, and the Bible is ALWAYS RIGHT!
