➡️Have you ever been at a party, or maybe a classroom setting, or some special event and yet, in the middle of other people, you still felt all alone? It’s weird how you can be in a crowd and still feel like you’re on the outside looking in. Years ago, I traveled with a band and we were booked to sing on a Christian cruise. We actually did this same cruise every year, and it was always a highlight, of course. But this year I was in a different mindset because I was praying about getting off of the road, so I felt really distant from everyone. I actually spent a huge portion of that cruise, on a beautiful ship, in the room. I was in the middle of a crowd, in an almost perfect situation, and yet I felt so alone.

That is a picture of life without God – without a relationship with Jesus Christ. People may look to you as having it all together – the perfect family, for example, or maybe the perfect home, the perfect job, the perfect everything, and yet inside you know there’s something missing. Why? Because 1 Corinthians 8:6 says, “There is one God, our Father, from whom all things came and for whom we exist; and there is but one, Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things came and for whom we exist.”
We are created by God, we are from God and we exist for God. Without God, we will always be in the middle of the crowd – even on a cruise – and yet feel alone. But with God, according to John 10:10, we can have life, and have it to the full. The word life in the original language is “zoe” – which means physical and spiritual life – a quality of life that is abundant and fulfilling, because we’re in a relationship with God.
I have abundant life today, but even if I died tonight, I would have more life tomorrow than I do today, because I would have eternal life with God in heaven. I have a question for you: where would you be tomorrow if you died tonight?
There’s a man in the Bible, named Paul, who actually wrote most of the New Testament. He was very religious, he was a leader, and he highly respected by the people, but he had an encounter with Jesus one day when he realized he was lost. He went to church, he did great things, he was even a leader at his church – but he was lost. He didn’t know God. After his “Jesus encounter” (you can read all about it in Acts chapter 9), he ended up writing a book in the Bible called Romans – it was a letter written to people who lived in Rome. In this letter, one of his main goals was to convince them, and us, that we are lost and we need Jesus.
Romans 3:23 – all of us have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.
Romans 5:8 – but God demonstrates his own love towards us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
Roman 6:23 – for the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.
Romans 8:1 – there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 10:13 – for everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.
To know God, and to have peace, and to know if we died tonight we would be in heaven tomorrow, we have to come to a place in our lives where we give everything we are to God. And it’s as simple as ABC:
A…ACCEPT that you’re a sinner. Romans 3:23 says, “all of us have sinned and fallen short of the perfect plan that God has for us.
B…BELIEVE in Jesus. Romans 6:23, “The gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus, our Lord.”
C…CALL on the name of the Lord. According to Romans 10:13, “If you call on his name, you will be saved.” You will be saved, you will have life – and no matter what crowd you find yourself in, you will have a deep peace and security, because you were created for God and he now lives inside of you.
Pray this simple prayer with me: “Dear God, I accept the fact that I am a sinner in need of a savior. I choose to believe that Jesus Christ was a real person who died on a cross for all of my sins and I call on his name right now and I ask you to save me. And I thank you for your free gift of salvation! In Jesus name I pray and I believe. Amen”. If you prayed that prayer, I believe that you are now saved, and you will spend eternity with God.
It’s in the Bible, and the Bible is always right!
