➡️I was raised in a good environment, around really good people. We were a part of a small church, where everyone knew each other – a true family. I remember reading the Bible, about the miracles of Jesus – the signs and wonders that followed the disciples – and even hearing of crazy stories of the supernatural told by the missionaries. But even as a child, I remember looking around and thinking – “I don’t see anything like that around here.” I heard the stories, but I didn’t see anything. As I started to grow up, something happened on the inside of me. I started questioning things; I started burning for more of God. “There’s gotta be more than just going to church…and just being nice.” That’s not wrong – we need community, we need to be nice. But deep inside I knew there was more.

If that’s you, let me encourage you to do three things:
1…PRAY. Be honest with God. He sees us where we are, and loves us exactly how we are, but he does expect our honesty. Ask God, “Is there anything inside of me that’s disappointing you? Am I missing the more that you have for me?” Psalm 139:23-24, says “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”
2…BE OPEN. All that God has for you may go against what seems normal, your understanding, or maybe even your denominational box – but I challenge you to be open. I’ve seen “moves of God” that’s not in the Bible, BUT these moves didn’t go against the Bible – that’s what’s important, of course. Study the book of Acts and you will see again and again where the followers of Jesus experienced things that challenged their understanding – like being filled with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2), eating certain foods (Acts 10) and taking the gospel to the Gentiles (Acts 13-14). Be open for more.
3…LOOK AT YOUR COMMUNITY. Proverbs 13:20 says, “Walk with the wise and become wise. A companion of fools suffers harm.” In other words, it matters who you hang around. It’s so easy for all of us to get trapped in our group, our church, or our denomination, for example, and think everyone is just like us. That was me, for sure. It’s not that I didn’t love my church, I did, but I started seeing other communities of believers who had a passion I didn’t have, who were experiencing things of the Holy Spirit that we were not experiencing. I knew they had something I did not have, and I wanted it. I so wanted it. Don’t you?
I promise you, according to the Word of God, there’s more! Pray for it, be open to it, and start hanging around others who are experiencing it! Ephesians 3:20 says , “God is able to do immeasurably more than all we can ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”
That’s in the Bible and the Bible is always right!
